St. Mary’s Academy is committed to learning and growing in our understanding of Truths and working toward reconciliation through the Calls to Action set forth by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. From Monday, September 27 to Wednesday, September 29, SMA is participating in Truth and Reconciliation Week. This is a national recognition week that continues conversations about ‘Every Child Matters’. All week students may wear an orange shirt—over their uniform on Monday and Tuesday and with casual clothing on Wednesday (this encompasses Monday to Wednesday as there is no school on Thursday and Friday). Each day at 10:30 AM all students and faculty will participate in virtual Truth and Reconciliation Week sessions, hosted by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. Sessions include:
Monday at 10:30 AM: Treaties, Land Claims and Unceded Territories – We are all Treaty People
Tuesday at 10:30 AM: Language and Culture – The Red River Jig with modern dance to inspire youth
Wednesday at 10:30 AM: Truth and Reconciliation – Legacy of Hope: Truth and Reconciliation Allyship
