Blessed Mother Marie-Rose Durocher (MMR) founded the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) in 1843 in Longueil, Quebec. After six years as Superior, MMR died on October 6, 1849, on her 38th birthday. MMR's accomplishments during her short life led Pope Saint John Paul II to beatify her on May 23, 1982, as a woman for all times. At SMA we dedicate the week surrounding MMR's birth and death as Mother Marie-Rose Week, and throughout the week we reflect on, and celebrate her life.
