Gift Bags from the Heart Preparations

This time of year SMA participates in a long-standing tradition called Gift Bags from the Heart. This is an initiative whereby students, faculty and staff purchase items and prepare gift bags for those in need in our city. Items in the gift bags are mainly essentials, such as toques, mitts, scarves, socks and personal hygiene products. Early in December, gift bags are dropped-off at the Immaculate Conception Drop-In Centre where they are given to patrons. Gift Bags from the Heart is organized by our Mission Club and the spirit of this initiative is fundamental to who we are as a community—being of service and lending-a-hand to others.

 

Last Friday students received a flyer with instructions about items they are requested to purchase for their gift bag. All students are asked to bring their items to SMA on Tuesday, November 30. Gift bag assembly will take place after our virtual Advent Service. Anyone with questions may reach out to the teacher advisor, Ms. Cranmer at ccranmer@smamb.ca.
