SMA’s Human Rights Team is hosting a week-long campaign to raise awareness about homelessness and poverty in Winnipeg, as follows:

Monday: Educational activities and information about homelessness and poverty

Tuesday: Presentation about housing for newcomer and lower income families (speaker to be confirmed)

Wednesday: Educational activities and information focusing on stigmas around poverty, how to destigmatize, anti-homeless architecture and factors that keep people in poverty.

Thursday: Bake sale with proceeds going to North Point Douglas Women's Centre. Baked goods will be individually pre-packaged.

Friday: Shopping Emporium. Students gain access to the shopping emporium by bringing in items from North Point Douglas Women’s Centre Wish List, or by donating $2 that will add to the donation given to NPDWC. The shopping emporium features products from student run businesses such as, candles, masks, soap, crystals, bookmarks, dog treats and more. All items for sale will be quarantined for two days prior to the sale date to ensure COVID-19 safety.
