Tuesday, October 1 to Friday, October 4
Blessed Mother Marie-Rose Durocher founded the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) in 1843 in Longueil, Quebec. After six years as Superior, Mother Marie-Rose died on October 6, 1849, her 38th birthday. Her accomplishments during her short life led Pope Saint John Paul II to beatify her on May 23, 1982, as a woman for all times. As SMA is a school in the tradition of the SNJM, we dedicate the week surrounding her birth and death as Mother Marie-Rose Week, and throughout the week we reflect on, and celebrate her life. Students will experience various activities all week long, including daily school-wide prayers, a community homeroom period, Mother Marie-Rose themed games, and a scavenger hunt.
