The SMA Badminton Program offers a progressive pathway for students to develop skills, build confidence, and compete at increasingly advanced levels.  Spanning grades 7 to 12, the program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and athletic growth.

All grades train from October to April.  On-court practices primarily help athletes develop their technical and tactical skills; off-court practices are to foster growth in strength and endurance.  Athletes in grades 10-12 are expected to strength train multiple times weekly. As tournaments approach, the program shifts toward strategies, psychological skills, and physical maintenance, providing athletes with opportunities to excel.

Tournaments

Grades 7 and 8 students will have their season culminate with league play in April with the Pembina Trails Athletic Association.  Grade 9 students will experience a Pembina Trails Athletic Association championship tournament.

The Varsity and Junior Varsity students compete in the West Winnipeg Athletic Conference, with winners qualifying for the Manitoba High School Athletic Association's Provincial Badminton Championships held in May.
