The SMA Track and Field program offers athletes opportunities to develop and compete across a range of events, including sprints, middle-distance running, jumps, and throws. Students are encouraged to participate in cross-country running during the fall to build endurance and prepare for the track and field season. 

Junior Track (Grades 7 & 8)

Students in Grades 7 and 8 are part of the track and field program, where they train and compete in their specific disciplines. Training for this group begins in November and continues through theuntil the end of June. These athletes have the opportunity to participate in various events and gain valuable experience, building a strong foundation for future competitions.Athletes compete in indoor meets hosted by Athletics Manitoba and transition to outdoor meets hosted by SMA, the conference, Athletics Manitoba, and other invitational events.

Senior Track (Grades 9-12)

Students in Grades 9-12 are part of our competitive track and field team, training and competing in their specific disciplines. The senior track program seeks dedicated athletes who are committed to achieving personal bests and competing at the provincial level, pushing themselves to excel in their sport. Training begins in November and continues through the spring competitive season. Senior athletes participate in indoor meets hosted by the University of Manitoba and Athletics Manitoba. The outdoor season includes meets hosted by the conference, Athletics Manitoba, the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association (MHSAA), and various invitational events.
