The Mission Club gives students the opportunity to help those in need, both locally and within the global community. Each year the Mission Club provides financial assistance, through various fundraising projects, to organizations that are either managed or supported by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

Students can be involved as either homeroom class representatives or as members of the Mission Club. As a Mission Class Rep, students attend monthly meetings, facilitate the planning and organizing of fundraising activities, and ensure their classmates receive updates about current and upcoming events hosted by the Club. Members play an important role in working with the Reps in their homeroom, and volunteering when extra help is needed within the Club.

Some of the major events planned by the Mission Club include:

  • Guest Speakers
  • Christmas Gift Bags From the Heart for the Immaculate Conception Drop-In
  • Canned Food Drive for Harvest Manitoba
  • Monthly Casual Days (scroll down for more information)

Mission Club Motto

Never underestimate the difference YOU can make in the lives of others. Step forward, reach out and help. Be part of Community!

Casual Days

It is tradition at SMA to hold Casual Days to honour, build awareness, and raise funds for non-profit charitable organizations supported by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Each month, from October to June, a Casual Day is held and a community organization in need is highlighted. For each monthly Casual Day, students donate $2 and may wear casual clothes to school instead of the SMA uniform.

Below is a list of the charities that the SMA Mission Club donates to each year; please find a corresponding website to find out more information.
